David F. Parker
Our pastor is
David F. Parker. He is in his sixth year at Aliceville First United
Methodist. He is a graduate of Auburn University (B.S. Ed. '67), the Basic
Course of Study ('81) and the Advanced Ministerial Course of Study ('85) at
Candler School of Theology, Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and the Academy
for Congregational Development of the North Alabama Conference ('99). He is
an Ordained Elder in the North Alabama Annual Conference of the United
Methodist Church.
David is a "second career preacher" in that he taught school and was in
educational sales for ten years before entering the ministry. This helps him
relate to real life issues faced by the people.
Since entering the ministry he has served the North Alabama Conference as
Chairman of Church Extension of the Board of Global ministries for eight
years. During that time he attended courses in church growth at Lake
Junaluska N.C. and completed training by the American Institute of Church
Growth based in Pasadena, CA. He also served on the Conference Board of
Evangelism for eight years. Most recently he completed training in the
Academy for Congregational Development, a two year process to gain insights
into today's church growth.
He also served on District boards of Communication, Church Building and
Location, Evangelism, and Ordained Ministry. He has been president of the
Jasper District Ministers association. He is currently serving as an
administrative assistant to the District Superintendent of our new South
West District.
His desire is to minister to God's people in time of crisis and rejoicing.
He is joined by his family: his wife, Dee, one of his daughters, Carol and
one of his sons, Teddy.
