Hurricane Rita, September 2005

Aunt Betty's House, Call Junction, Texas

Aunt Betty's home was completely demolished.  Between the tornadoes and the mold (no electricity for a month) it was not salvageable.  This was particularly upsetting to her because this was the house she and her siblings were born in, and had just finished remodeling the month before.  The good news is that her new home should be ready by the end of summer.  These pictures were taken three days after the storm before the ceilings fell and the mold *really* began to proliferate.

The porch was blown over the roof.

Left:  The roof blew off part of the house allowing water to soak the living room.   Right:  The computer room also was soaked.

This ceiling fell shortly a few days later.

The porch flew over the roof and landed on her new storage building.

Most of the seasonal items in the storage building were ruined.
