bio
Daryl is a trained actor (Northwestern University), graphic designer (University of Memphis), and college professor who began writing plays in 2000. Since then, she has been devoted to writing roles for women (of all ages and colors) that depict their spirit, strength, madness, and eccentricities (her favorite setting is the American South, where she grew up--Starkville, Mississippi--and developed her own odd sense of self).
Her plays, including Greyhounds, Georgia Out of My Mind, and Split in Three, have been produced and/or read at Truman State University, the Minnesota Fringe Festival, the New Stage Theatre (where she was selected in the 2007 Eudora Welty New Plays Series), and Off-Broadway. Her screenplay, Passing Through, is currently looking for a life beyond the page, as is her new musical with composer, Aaron McAllister.
Currently, Daryl is teaching graphic design at Coastal Carolina University, freelancing as a designer, and writing in every available moment. |
