BLACKOUT
High-concept period piece/musical

[Collaboration with composer Aaron McAllister]
status: first draft in-progress

In New York City, in the summer of 1977, amidst decay and decline in a busted and burning city brimming with drugs, violence, swingers and disco, the lights went out. This is one July night that will change a place…and everyone it touches.

Excerpt from Blackout:

CORA
It’s been a long damn time. You look like shit. Like a street roach.

RODERICK
I am one.  I get into a shelter some nights. Or a church mission. Never know.

CORA
A shelter? Damn, Uncle Rod. Like for homeless?

RODERICK
Like that. Yeah.

Awkward pause.

CORA
You hungry?

RODERICK
Yeah.

CORA reaches into her pocket and brings out Twinkies.
