BUILDER: Forrest Cookson (Sarge)
DIVISION: UAS (Ugly As Sin)
HISTORY:
Fubar, an anacronym from the military, was used to describe this incredibly ugly
machine from builder Forrest Cookson. It was so ugly, so crass, and
astounds the imagination so much as to why it works at all, that all the other
Junkers are quite proud to have Forrest in our ranks.
Originally, This machine was Fubar, and it was made with 26 inch frame in back. However, he liked the low rider feel so much, that he remade this machine (after it hit critical failure in the rear frame) with 20 inch frames in order to make it a bit lower.
The construction of Fubar and Snafu (the 20 inch version) is quite impressive. The rider sits on an old weight bench, which sits on a bed frame welded with an arc welder to two bike frames. Most of it wasn't cut with a hacksaw - too pretty. It was cut with a torch. The chain also grinds against the seat, constantly and slowly drilling a hole in the seat.
Recently, the seat has been replaced with something that isn't suffering from massive amounts of dry rot, and makes the chain drag less. It's still a real nice ride.
